In this episode of Failing to Success, host Chad Kaleky from Cosmic Design talks to Francis Perdue from Scooter P Entertainment. The discussion is focused on Francis’s company which is a BIPOC distribution company geared towards people of color. Francis explains how there is a huge disparity in the industry where people of color don’t get to distribute their TV series or films on multiple streaming platforms. Scooter P Entertainment aims to bridge this gap by providing resources to such people and helping them distribute their content across various streaming platforms.
Francis shares that the company is doing well with platforms such as Tubi, Motu, Amazon Prime, and a few others that they have some first look deals with. They also mention that each project brings on different outlets, and they do anything from HBO Max to Tubi. They discuss how it is important to have multiple streams of income, and putting podcasts on such platforms is a great way to do so.
Francis talks about her journey of how she got started in the entertainment industry. She had been a publicist for about 15 years and had done some film-related work in college as well. Recently, she had worked for a company where she thought she could do a few things better. She left the company and started her own, which is now fully owned by her. Francis explains how it takes time to generate revenue with distribution, and they partnered with organizations to get bulk projects, talent and sponsors for events
